Despite calls from many prominent members of the legal profession – including a call from Nigel Shepherd, the new Resolution National Chair, the government has confirmed to the House of Lords that it has no plans to reform divorce law by introducing a “no fault” divorce.

A You Gov poll, published on the 17th February 2017, found that 69% of people polled thought that “people should be able to seek a divorce without having to show their spouse is at fault”.

This then, is the way the law stands at the moment, and if you are in a position where you are considering a divorce, but don’t know how to go about it, make an appointment with Jill Cameron at our Catterick office for expert help in your divorce.
