Malcolm W Scott
Malcolm is a graduate of Jesus College, Cambridge (M.A. in History and Law), qualified following a traineeship with Dickinson, Miller and Turnbull (now Womble Bond Dickinson) at their Newcastle-upon-Tyne Office.
He Has been a partner in Scotts Wright and its predecessor firms since 1972, and has held a Practising Certificate uninterruptedly for 48 years.

Ian C Scott
Ian studied Law at Nottingham University 1968 – 1971 and qualified in 1974.
Ian specialises in Conveyancing; Wills Trust and Probate and is a member of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners).
Richard has been with Scotts Wright since 1983.
He practises in Family Law, Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution cases.
Steve qualified as a solicitor in 2006. He studied biology at the University of Manchester before undertaking his post graduate diploma in Law at Leeds Metropolitan University and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London.
Steve trained with Scotts Wright and has specialised in Property matters since then. He spent 5 years working with Leeds and Bradford firm Gordons LLP where he focused on Commercial Property work.
Steve has a depth of experience dealing with property matters including sales, lettings and purchases, Landlord and Tenant matters and development.
Kathryn graduated from Queen's University Belfast in 2006. Following completion of her LPC at the College of Law Chester, Kathryn came to Scotts Wright as a Trainee in 2007.
Kathryn completed her traineeship in 2009 and has been working as a Solicitor with the firm ever since.
She is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly and specialises in Conveyancing, Probate, Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney.
Allen is an experienced solicitor who has specialised in family law since qualifying in 1982.
Having grown up in in Kent, he ran his own practice for 17 years before he and his family relocated to the north of England in 2002.
Since then Allen has worked predominantly in Leeds and the surrounding areas before joining Scotts Wright at the beginning of 2018, where he is now head of our Family Law department.
Allen is a member of Resolution, the organisation committed to adopting a constructive and non-confrontational approach in family disputes.
He is also the firm’s point of contact for Forces Law.
Although he is based at our Catterick Garrison Office, he will also be pleased to see clients at our Leyburn office if they prefer.
Senior Solicitor and Head of Litigation services at Scotts Wright.
Estella deals with a wide range of litigation work. This includes areas where there are disputes in the Civil and Criminal courts. Estella has over 7 years of post-qualification litigation experience.
In her Civil practice, she has significant experience with matters including: Landlord and Tenant, Inheritance Disputes, Breach of Contract, Professional Negligence and Debt Recovery. She has experience in successfully dealing with many high value and complex cases, working closely with Counsel.
Estella is also able to advise on personal injury claims. Over the years she has represented clients with range of injuries, sometimes life changing, and is always determined to achieve the very best settlement she can for all her clients.
As to the Criminal practice, she is able to offer advice on a wide range of issues: from advice at the police station, to matters before the Magistrates and Crown Courts. These also include issues of a Regulatory nature, which includes firearms. (Please note Estella only advises on a private basis, we do not offer Legal Aid).
Following completion of her LPC at the College of Law in York, Lydia initially came to the firm in 2011 as a legal assistant. She was subsequently offered a training contract and since becoming fully qualified, has worked within our conveyancing and private client departments.
Lydia specialises in Conveyancing, Probate, Wills and Powers of Attorney.
John has been with Scotts Wright since June 2016. He graduated Teesside University in 2014 with a 2:1 degree in Law. He has recently started the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University and will be commencing a training contract shortly. He is currently assisting with Residential conveyancing and property matters.
Lucinda graduated with a first-class degree in Law from the University of Bradford in 2018 before accepting her training contract with Scotts Wright in September 2018. Lucinda originally joined Scotts Wright on work experience whilst studying for her A-levels at Wensleydale School, she is currently undertaking the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University which completes in 2020, when she will qualify as a solicitor.
Lucinda is based at our Catterick Garrison office where she is assisting the Probate and Conveyancing departments.
